Overthinking: Cause of Unhappiness

WE ARE SUFFERING FROM AN EPIDEMIC OF OVERTHINKING

In present scenario we cannot deny our researches which clearly states that one of the severe problems that people face is that most of the time they live in their heads and that is because of overthinking. Whether situation has happened or not, they often get trapped in thinking too much about it. What is overthinking? Its not if we have met our basic needs or well find our next meal or a place to sleep, our talks moves around those times when we lavishly spend our mental energy on stuff that in actual facts doesnt deserve it. Sometimes overthinking looks like bothering about the small things, devoting disproportionate amounts of brain space to the relatively insignificant. At times we might catch ourselves in the middle of a long train of thoughts .Sometimes overthinking looks like second-guessing ourselves. Whether the concern knocking into our thoughts is big or small, we recognize the common thread: these thoughts are repetitive, unhealthy, and unhelpful. 

Overthinking carries a significant opportunity cost also. Mental energy is not a limitless resource. Value of time, we have very less to spend each day in this lifespan, and how we choose to spend it matters.

Overthinking and getting caught in it is a vicious cycle. Since childhood we are working on this repetitive practice reinforcing our habits of thoughts ,thus empowering them through attention and repetition. So presently we have become good at overthinking.

Many of us have strengthened unhealthy circuits in our mind through repetitive practice. Understand the thought pattern, every time we repeat a fearful or defeatist thought, we put energies to that thought and strengthen the connections that make it easier to have that unhealthy thought again. We have to break the cycle, and we can do that by starting small.

Shifting your mindset is just the first step, but its an important one. To stop overthinking on a persistent basis, we want to develop the skills and habits that characterize a helpful thought life, the ones that will keep that vehicle running well for a long time. Getting your thought life under control may feel hardbut not impossible.

STOP OVERTHINKING: RELAX AND LET IT GO
